The Kentia Palm, scientifically known as Howea forsteriana, is one of the most popular palms for apartments. The Kentia Palm is an ideal choice for indoor spaces due to its high resistance, beautiful leaves, and ability to adapt to low light. It grows slowly and has a long lifespan, making it a long-term investment for interior decoration.

Appearance: It has long, slender stems with compound, curved leaves emerging from the top of the stem. The leaves are elongated, dark green, and slightly drooping, giving the plant a magnificent, classic look.

Light: Kentia needs bright but indirect light. This palm can tolerate low light, but its growth will be slower in low light and the leaves may lose their quality. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, especially strong afternoon sunlight, as this can burn the leaves.
Watering: Allow the soil surface to dry slightly between waterings. In general, it may need more watering during the growing season (spring and summer), and less in the fall and winter. It is best to use dechlorinated water (such as cooled boiled water or rainwater). Overwatering can cause root rot and yellowing of the leaves.
Humidity: Kentia likes relatively high humidity. Dry apartment air, especially in winter, can cause the tips of the leaves to turn brown. Misting the leaves regularly, using a cool mist humidifier, or placing the pot on a tray of pebbles and water (without the bottom of the pot touching the water) will help provide humidity.
Soil: It needs well-drained soil. A mixture of potting soil with peat moss, perlite, and a little sand is suitable.
Temperature: Prefers average home temperatures (around 16-27 degrees Celsius). Avoid placing it near direct heating or cooling sources, as well as air conditioning.
Toxicity: This plant is non-toxic to humans and pets, making it a safe choice for homes with pets.

Golden tip: To maintain the plant’s beautiful and dense appearance, gently remove any dried or yellowed leaves from the bottom. Also, rotate the pot every so often so that light reaches all parts of the plant evenly and prevents it from tilting.
