Variegated Monstera deliciosa: One of the most popular luxury ornamental plants, known for its large, variegated, and patterned leaves. This plant is more sensitive than the green monstera, as the white parts of the leaves do not have chlorophyll and are less able to produce energy.

Appearance: The leaves are large, shiny, and have natural slits and holes. In the variegated specimen, the leaves are a combination of green, white, cream, or light yellow. The more variegated, the more beautiful the leaves, but the more sensitive the plant will be. Its growth form is climbing and looks very elegant in large pots.

Light: It needs a lot of indirect light. Low light will reduce variegation and the leaves will turn green. Strong direct light can also burn the white parts of the leaves. Best: Next to a bright window with thin curtains or filtered light.

Watering: It should be watered when the top few inches of soil are dry.

Monstera is very sensitive to waterlogging, and overwatering can cause root rot.

On the other hand, prolonged drought will also slow growth and may damage the tips of the leaves.

Humidity: Likes medium to high humidity. Dry air can cause the edges to brown or the new leaves to not open properly. Using a gravel tray, a cool mister, or keeping the plants in groups can help.

Soil: Requires light, airy, and well-drained soil. The right mix: cocopeat or peat moss + perlite + bark/wood chips + a little leaf mold. The goal is to retain moisture but not suffocate.

Temperature: The best temperature is around 18 to 30 degrees. It is sensitive to cold and cold winds. Below about 15 degrees, growth slows and may be damaged.

Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if swallowed. Like many aroids, it contains calcium oxalate crystals that can irritate the mouth and throat.

Golden tip: The ratio of leaf color to direct light is related to the amount of light. If the color is too much and the leaves are whiter, the plant needs more light, but it will also be weaker. To maintain balance, filtered light is the best choice and it is better not to move the plant constantly.
