The Philodendron ‘Birkin’ is one of the most popular houseplants, known for its unique appearance and the striking contrast in its leaves.
Appearance:
It has broad, oval-shaped leaves with attractive white or cream-colored stripes on a dark green background. As the plant matures, these white patterns become more pronounced.
Light:
It requires medium to bright indirect light. Adequate light helps maintain the white striping pattern on the leaves. Low light can cause the leaves to turn solid green, reducing the plant’s distinctive beauty.
Watering:
Water the plant when the top layer of soil (about 2–3 cm) dries out. Avoid overwatering and letting water sit in the saucer, as the plant is prone to root rot.
Temperature & Humidity:
The ideal temperature range is between 18 to 27°C. Birkin enjoys slightly humid environments; misting or using a humidity tray can help keep it healthy.
Soil:
Use soil that is both nutrient-rich and well-draining (a mix of peat moss, perlite, and coco peat works well).
